Terms for removal companies
Last updated
These are the terms between Subber Ltd and the removal companies that use Subber to find and book self-employed drivers, porters and other removal workers.
The short version
This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what count.
- Subber introduces you to self-employed drivers, porters and other removal workers. You book them and pay them directly.
- We charge you a fee of 15% of the day rate (20% on day rates over £200), on top of the day rate, only for jobs that go ahead. It's 7.5% from the 4th day of a longer job, and 7.5% for your favourite workers. Your own crew carry no booking fee: you pay £8 a month for each crew member instead. You see each fee as an amount, with the total, before you post or book. We invoice you monthly. There's no fee on extras, such as travel or nights away, that you pay the worker.
- Workers pay us nothing.
- You can cancel an agreed job in the app up to its start time. If you cancel within 12 hours of the start, or on the day, you pay the worker 30% to 50% of their day rate (25% of every day on a longer job). Workers can see your cancellation rate.
- Hiring an applicant less than 24 hours before the start sends them an offer to confirm. Nobody can be hired once a job has started.
- A job is completed automatically 3 days after its last day, unless a problem report on it is still open.
- We don't check what workers tell us about themselves, except the "Right to work checked" badge.
- Make your own right-to-work check. Check licences and insurance before anyone drives.
- Subber doesn't provide insurance. Damage claims are between you, the worker and your insurers.
1 About these terms
Subber is run by Subber Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. Company number: to follow. Registered office: to follow.
Contact us through Contact Subber in the app, or at hello@subber.co.uk.
"We", "us" and "Subber" mean Subber Ltd. "You" means the business that opens a company account.
"Worker" means a self-employed person with a worker account on Subber, such as a driver, porter or packer.
These terms apply together with our Privacy notice (subber.co.uk/legal/privacy), Review policy (subber.co.uk/legal/review-policy) and Cookie notice (subber.co.uk/legal/cookies).
You accept these terms by ticking the box when you sign up. If you don't agree, don't use Subber.
We keep a record of the version you accepted. Ask us and we'll send you a copy. These terms are only available in English.
Subber is for businesses only. You can't use it as a consumer, for example to get help with your own house move.
2 What Subber is
Subber Ltd is an employment agency. We introduce self-employed workers to removal companies for temporary day work. No fees to workers.
For each job, you and the worker make your own agreement.
You pay the worker directly. At the moment, we don't handle, hold or pass on workers' pay. If we offer paying workers through Subber later, we'll change these terms first (section 24).
We charge you a fee for each job that goes ahead (section 8). Workers pay us nothing.
We aren't your employer or the worker's. We don't supply workers to you, and we don't run or direct their work.
We can't promise that a worker will be free, accept a request, turn up or do the job well.
We can't promise any number of workers or jobs in your area.
3 Your account
To open a company account, you must:
- run a business based in the UK, such as a limited company, partnership or sole trader
- be 18 or over
- have authority to accept these terms for the business
Give us accurate details: your real trading name, an email address you check, and your mobile number. Keep them up to date.
Change your company name, mobile number and billing details in Your details. Change your email address and password in Account settings.
A new email address only takes effect when you click the link we send to it. The link lasts 24 hours. We also tell your old address.
Changing or resetting your password signs you out on every other device. It also cancels any email change you haven't confirmed yet. To sign out of your other devices without changing your password, use Sign out of other devices in Account settings.
Keep your mobile number up to date: the workers you hire get it.
We may ask for evidence that you're a genuine business. We may refuse or close an account if we're not satisfied.
Each business may have one company account. For now, each account has one login.
Anyone who uses your login acts for your business. You're responsible for what they do on Subber.
Keep your password private and don't use it anywhere else. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
Workers can see your company name, rating, reviews, completed jobs, cancellation rate and when you joined.
Before you can send a request or hire an applicant, add your billing details in Your details. If we ask you to set up a Direct Debit (section 9), do that first too. You can post a job before then.
Your billing details are your type of business (limited company, sole trader or partnership), the legal name to put on invoices, your Companies House number if you're a limited company, your billing address and postcode, and an email address for invoices. You can also add a VAT number. Keep them accurate and up to date. We use them to invoice our fees (section 9).
Anyone can sign up for a company account, but you can't see or book workers until we've approved your business. Until then, you can't search for workers, see their profiles or photos, post jobs, send requests, hire anyone or add favourites. You can sign in and fill in your details meanwhile, such as your billing details, mobile number and insurance tick (section 16).
To approve you, we check you're a genuine removal business. We may phone you, or look up the company number you give us on Companies House. Once we've approved you, we tell you in the app and by email. We record when you were approved and which of our staff approved you.
When you sign up, we email a link to confirm your email address. Click it, because password resets and booking news go there.
We tell you about your bookings in the app and by email. We also text you when a worker pulls out of a job. These messages are part of the service, so you can't turn them off while you have an account.
You stay signed in on a device for up to 90 days after you last used Subber. Sign out on any device other people use.
4 Finding workers
You can search by role, licence, name, distance, rating, skill, right-to-work badge and whether a worker is free on a date. You can also show just your favourites. Workers list every role they can do: driver, porter, team leader or packer. They also list their skills, such as export wrapping or piano moving. A role search finds everyone who lists that role.
A licence search also shows workers whose category includes the one you searched for. For example, a C1 search also shows C1+E, C and C+E.
A worker only shows if the job is within their own travel distance as well as yours.
Distances are measured between the centres of postcode areas, so they're approximate. With a job postcode, the nearest workers come first.
A worker's calendar shows each day as free or not free. On a day they're not, you'll see whether they're booked on another job (never which company) or have marked the day off, but never why. Workers set the days they usually work. They can mark days off, or add a one-off working day.
Before you send a request or post a job, we show you the day rate, our fee, any extras and the total. Before you hire an applicant, we show what hiring them costs. The booking form also shows what you'd owe the worker if you cancelled late (section 11).
You can mark up to 5 workers as favourites. We tell your favourites when you post a job. Our fee can be lower when you book a favourite (section 8).
A worker can pause their profile, for example while they're on holiday. While it's paused, they can't apply for your jobs, and you can't send them a request or hire them. They don't show in search, except in your favourites. Jobs already agreed still go ahead.
A paused worker's profile says they're not taking bookings at the moment, and when they'll be back if they've said. We don't tell you why.
You can block a worker, and a worker can block you. Either way, they don't show in your search, you can't book them, and they don't see your job posts. Agreed jobs still go ahead.
When either of you blocks the other, any request still waiting between you ends. Their applications still waiting on your posts are withdrawn, and they come off your favourites. Nobody is told about a block. You can see and undo your own blocks in Account settings.
Your Workers page has a crew link, under Your crew. Share it with the drivers and porters you already use. Anyone who signs up through it is your own crew. We tell you when someone joins.
Your crew come first in your search results, marked "Your crew".
A crew account only sees your job posts, job alerts and requests. No other company can find your crew in search, see their profiles or photos, add them to favourites or send them a request.
In the same way, other companies' crew don't show in your search, and you can't book them.
A crew member can make their own, separate account to get work from other companies. We don't tell you about that account or show you the link, though it can come up in your search like any other worker's. We may also link two accounts that we find belong to the same person. We make sure the same person is never booked on the same day on both accounts.
5 Booking a worker directly
To send a request, choose the worker, the first day, how many days (up to 14, one after another), the role and the start time. The start time is the same each day. If you leave the start time blank, the job counts as starting at 8am UK time.
Give a short location and the address the job starts from. You can add the address it goes to, who to ask for on site, notes and extras. Say when you'll pay the worker ("Pays within"): on the day, or within 7, 14 or 30 days.
The day rate is always the worker's own rate. It's fixed when you send the request, and so is our fee.
You can add extras on top of the day rate: travel, nights away (with a nightly allowance and where they'll stay) and other costs, such as parking or tolls. You pay extras to the worker with the day rate. We don't charge a fee on them.
If the job has nights away and the worker has set a night-out rate, that's the allowance a night, fixed like the day rate. A worker's mileage rate, if they show one, is a guide for the travel payment.
You can't send a request for a start time that's already passed, for a role the worker doesn't list, or for days they're not free. Every day of the job must be free. A day isn't free if they've marked it off, it's not one of their working days, or they already have an agreed job.
Only the worker can accept or decline. The job is agreed once they accept. Booking your own crew works differently (see below).
The worker must answer within 12 hours of you sending the request, or by 24 hours before the start if that's sooner. They always get at least 2 hours, unless the job starts sooner. A request never lasts past the start time.
If they don't answer in time, the request expires. We tell you both.
A worker can only have one agreed job a day. Once they're booked, any other requests waiting for them on any of those days close. If one of those is yours, we tell you they're booked elsewhere.
If you ask several workers for the same day, everyone who accepts has an agreed job with you. When one accepts, we remind you about the others still waiting. Withdraw any you don't need. Before you send a request, the booking form warns you if a request for the same role on any of those days is still waiting for an answer. It's only a warning: you can still send it.
Before a job is agreed, the worker sees your company name, the date, start time, rate, any extras, location and notes. They only see the full postcode, addresses and on-site contact once it's agreed.
So don't put your customer's name, full address or phone number in the location or notes.
Once a job is agreed, you and the worker can see each other's mobile numbers.
You can book one of your own crew (section 4) in straight away, as a direct booking or onto one of your job posts. The job is agreed at once. There's no request for them to accept. We tell them in the app and by text.
Everything else is the same as for any agreed job. The usual cancelling rules apply to both of you (section 11), and you can see each other's mobile numbers.
6 Posting a job
A job post gives the first day and number of days (up to 14), role, licence, location, full postcode, start address, number of places (1 to 20), day rate and a description. You can also list up to 5 skills needed.
You can add a start time, the end address, an on-site contact, extras (see section 5) and Notes. A blank start time means 8am.
On a job post, you set the day rate.
Every worker on Subber can see your open posts, wherever they are, unless either of you has blocked the other or they're another company's own crew. They see your company name and rating, the location and postcode area, the rate, any extras, the description, your Notes, any skills needed and the places left. For the first 2 hours, a new post is only open to your crew and favourites (see below).
When you post a job, we tell your own crew and your favourites first (see below). We also tell other workers who could do it, unless they've turned job alerts off. A worker could do it if it's one of their roles, their licence covers it, it's within the distance they'll travel, and they're free that day. We don't tell anyone who has paused their profile, or where either of you has blocked the other. Nor do we alert other workers whose overnight preference rules the job out (day jobs only, or a night in the cab when they need somewhere to stay).
Only post real jobs that you have authority to fill. Every post is for temporary day work.
Workers can apply even if their licence doesn't match, or they don't list the skills you asked for, so check before you hire. We show you which of those skills each applicant lists, but we don't check them.
Workers apply for every day of a post. They can't apply if they already have an agreed job on one of its days.
A worker can withdraw their application while they're still waiting to hear back. We don't tell you. It just drops off your list. They can apply again while the post is open.
When you hire an applicant 24 hours or more before the start, the job is agreed straight away. Their application counts as saying yes. Less than 24 hours before the start, hiring sends them an offer to confirm instead. They answer by the usual answer-by time (section 5.8), and their place is held meanwhile. If they say no, don't answer in time, take another job that day, or either of you blocks the other or closes your account, or you withdraw the offer, the place frees up. Nobody can apply or be hired once the job has started.
Once hired, the worker gets the full postcode, addresses, start time, on-site contact, description and Notes, and your mobile number.
Once anyone has applied, you can't change the dates, role, licence, rate, extras, Pays within, location or postcode. Repost the job instead. We'll tell the old post's applicants and invite them to apply again.
Once anyone is hired, you can't change the start time, addresses or on-site contact. Phone the worker about any change.
A post closes when all its places are filled or you close it. We tell the applicants you didn't hire. If a booking made from a post is cancelled, that place frees up. If the worker cancels, a post that closed because it was full opens again, if its day hasn't passed. If you cancel, we ask whether to put the post back up. It only opens again if you say yes.
A new post goes to your own crew first, then your favourites, both straight away. We tell your crew who could do it, wherever they are, unless they've turned job alerts off. For 2 hours, only your crew and favourites can see the post and apply. After that, every other worker can see it and apply, and we tell those nearby who could do it. There's no head start for a job that starts the same day, or for a repost.
You can book one of your own crew straight onto a post, using "Book in from your crew". The job is agreed at once, with no application or request for them to accept (section 5).
Each post says when you'll pay whoever you hire ("Pays within"): on the day, or within 7, 14 or 30 days. Workers see it before they apply.
Once a post is open to everyone, it shows "People free for this job": up to 8 workers who could do it and are free on every day. Your favourites come first, then workers who've worked for you, then those whose day rate the post covers, then by rating, attendance and distance. Workers who are paused, have applied, or where either of you has blocked the other aren't listed. Nor is your own crew: book them in instead (section 6.16).
You can "Ask to apply" up to 10 of them for each post, once each. We tell them in the app and by text. Asking isn't a request or a booking. They apply at the post's rate, like anyone else, if they want the job.
If a post starting within 3 days still has places and workers are free for it, we tell you once.
We may advertise your open job posts on subber.co.uk and through job search services such as Google, without your company name or the job's address. You can switch this off for any post.
7 Information you must give about each job
Before we introduce a worker, the law says we must get certain details of the job from you. The worker must also have them when they're offered the job.
For every request and job post, tell us accurately:
- what your business does
- the date, start time, and likely finish time or length of the day
- the type of work and where it is
- any health and safety risks you know of, and what you've done about them
- any licence, experience, training or qualification the job needs, including any the law requires
- any expenses you'll pay the worker, or they'll have to pay, such as parking, tolls, travel or somewhere to stay
- when you'll pay the worker ("Pays within"), and how
Put these in the Notes on a job post, or the notes on a booking request. Put anything you'll pay the worker on top of the day rate in the extras. Workers see all of this before they apply or accept.
If anything changes after a job is agreed, tell the worker straight away.
If the job involves caring for or attending a vulnerable person, tell us through Contact Subber before you book. Extra checks may be needed, and we may not be able to help.
8 Our fee
Our fee is a percentage of the worker's day rate. You pay it on top of the day rate. It never comes out of the worker's pay. In the app, we show it as an amount in pounds, with the total, before you post or book. Each day's fee is rounded to the nearest penny.
There's no fee on extras, such as travel, nights away or other costs you pay the worker.
On a job of more than 3 days, the fee is 7.5% of the day rate from the 4th day. For example, 5 days at £150 a day: 3 × £22.50 + 2 × £11.25 = £90.
The percentage depends on the day rate, and applies to the whole day rate:
- £200 a day or less: 15%
- £201 a day or more: 20%
For example:
- £100 day rate + £15 fee = £115
- £200 day rate + £30 fee = £230
- £201 day rate + £40.20 fee = £241.20
Our fee is a flat 7.5% of the day rate instead, for every day (the favourite rate), when you book a worker who has been one of your favourites for at least 14 days and has completed at least one job with you.
The favourite rate applies to direct requests and to hiring from a post. If you take a worker off your favourites and add them back, the 14 days start again.
The fee is fixed when you send a request or hire from a post.
We only charge the fee when a job goes ahead. That means you mark it complete, it completes automatically (section 13), or we record it as completed (section 12).
There's no fee for requests that are withdrawn, declined or expire. There's no fee for jobs that are cancelled, marked as a no-show or called off.
Workers never see our fee.
We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before changing our fees. Changes only apply to bookings made after that.
If we agree a special offer with you in writing, such as a lower fee for a while, the offer applies where it differs from these terms.
Bookings of your own crew (section 4) carry no booking fee. Instead, you pay £8 a month for each member of your crew, whether you book them that month or not. Anyone in your crew at any point in a month counts for that whole month. It's on your monthly invoice with any other fees.
9 Invoices and payment
On or soon after the 4th of each month, we'll email you an invoice, as a PDF to your invoice email address, for our fees on jobs that started in the previous month and went ahead, and for that month's crew fee (section 8, item 14). Any job completed after that, or a month's crew fee we couldn't invoice then, goes on your next invoice. Your invoices are also under Your details, to download. If you owe nothing for a month, there's no invoice.
Each invoice lists the jobs, the day rates and the fee on each. If a job's outcome changes after it's been invoiced, for example to a no-show, we'll take its fee, or the difference, off your next invoice.
If Your details asks you to set up a Direct Debit, do it before your first request or hire. It's enough to have signed the mandate on Stripe's page. Stripe holds your bank details, and we only see the last 4 digits. We'll collect each invoice when it's issued, and Stripe emails you before each payment. If there's no Direct Debit in place, or a collection fails, pay within 14 days of the invoice date by bank transfer to the account shown on the invoice, with the invoice number as the reference.
Our fees are stated without VAT. We aren't registered for VAT, so we don't charge it. If we register, we'll add VAT at the rate that applies and tell you first.
If you think an invoice is wrong, tell us within 14 days. Pay any part you don't dispute on time.
You can't hold back or reduce our fee because of a dispute with a worker.
If you pay late, we may charge interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
That's currently 8% a year above the Bank of England base rate, plus £40, £70 or £100 per invoice depending on its size.
We'll remind you on the due date and 7 days after. If a Direct Debit collection fails, we pause your account straight away. If an invoice is 14 days or more overdue, we may pause it. Either way, it stays paused until the invoice is paid. While it's paused, you can't post jobs, send requests or hire, and your open job posts don't show. Agreed jobs still go ahead. Requests still waiting for an answer are withdrawn, and we tell the workers.
Your company dashboard shows monthly totals as a guide. Your invoice shows what you owe.
10 Paying workers
You pay each worker directly, on the terms you agree with them.
Pay the agreed day rate, plus any extras on the booking and any other expenses you agreed to cover, by the time you gave in Pays within on the request or post.
Never send a worker's pay to us. We won't accept it.
Agree anything extra, such as a longer day, directly with the worker.
Pay disputes are between you and the worker. A worker can report a payment problem to us, and we may ask you about it.
Repeated payment problems may lead us to suspend your account.
Workers on Subber are self-employed. You're responsible for how you engage them and for any tax or legal duties that follow.
That includes the off-payroll working rules (IR35) where they apply, for example to a worker who works through their own limited company.
11 Cancelling
You can withdraw a request any time before the worker answers. It's free, you don't need a reason, and it doesn't count against you.
You can cancel an agreed job in the app up to its start time. Give a short reason. The worker sees it straight away. Once the start time has passed (the first day's, on a job of several days), you can't cancel. Use Report a problem instead (section 12).
Cancelling an agreed job is free until 12 hours before the start, or until the start of the job's first day (midnight UK time) if that's earlier. For example, an 8am start is free to cancel until 8pm the night before. A 3pm start is free to cancel until midnight the night before.
After that, it's a late cancellation. If you cancel late, you owe the worker part of their day rate: 30% if the day rate is £120 or less, 40% if it's £121 to £180, and 50% if it's £181 or more. For example, if you cancel late on a £150 day rate, you owe the worker £60. On a job of more than one day, you owe 25% of the day rate for every day booked instead. For example, cancelling a 3-day job at £150 a day late, you owe £112.50.
Pay it to the worker directly, like the day rate. We record it, but we don't collect it or take a fee on it. The amount shows on the booking, and in the message we send the worker about your cancellation.
Your cancellation rate shows on your company page, for example "1 of 5 agreed jobs, 20%". Workers' rates show on their profiles in the same way.
It counts the agreed jobs you cancelled. Withdrawn requests, declines and jobs we record as called off don't count.
Workers can also cancel an agreed job up to its start time. They must give a reason, which you see straight away. If a worker cancels late, they don't owe you anything. We record it as a late cancellation. Like any cancellation of an agreed job, it counts towards their cancellation rate. The exception: if you booked them in without asking (hiring them from a post, or booking in your own crew), they can pull out within 2 hours of being booked. That isn't late, and it doesn't count towards their cancellation rate.
12 No-shows, called-off jobs and other problems
Once the start time has passed, you can mark a worker as "Didn't turn up". On a job of several days, that means they didn't turn up at all. If they missed some of the days, report a problem instead.
There's no fee for a no-show. We tell the worker, and they can dispute it.
Only mark a no-show if it's true. Worker profiles show attendance, for example "Turned up for 9 of 10 jobs".
You or the worker can report a problem on a booking. Choose the type (no-show, late, damage, payment, conduct, job called off or other) and explain what happened.
We'll look at what you both tell us, and we may ask you for more.
We then decide how the booking is recorded on Subber: completed, no-show, called off or, on a job of several days, worked for some of the days. That decides whether our fee is due, and on a part-worked job it's the fee for the days worked. We tell you both.
A job recorded as called off doesn't count against either side's cancellation rate.
Our decision only covers Subber's records and our fee. It doesn't settle any claim between you and the worker.
If you have new information, you can ask us to look again within 14 days of our decision.
13 Finishing a job
Mark an agreed job complete in Jobs, on or after its last day. We'll ask you to confirm the worker did it.
If you haven't marked it by the morning after its last day, we'll remind you once.
If you don't mark it and no problem report is open, it's completed automatically 3 days after its last day.
When a job is completed, our fee becomes due and you can both leave reviews for 14 days (section 17).
If a job is marked complete but didn't go ahead, report a problem as soon as you can, and within 7 days.
14 What we tell you about workers
Workers tell us their name, the roles they can do, licence category, experience, skills, day rate, travel distance and bio. They may add a photo. We don't check any of this.
Workers can add certificates, such as Driver CPC or first aid. They're uploaded by the worker and not checked by Subber. You see each one's name and expiry date.
Ratings, reviews, cancellation rates and attendance come from bookings on Subber. Workers with no reviews yet show as new.
A "Right to work checked" badge means we checked the worker's right to work in the UK. You see only the badge, not how or when we checked. If two of a worker's accounts are linked, a check on one shows on both.
Make your own checks before you rely on anything a worker tells us. Before a worker drives for you, check:
- their licence covers the vehicle, for example with a DVLA check code
- they hold a Driver CPC and driver card, if the vehicle needs them
- your motor insurance covers them
Check that the person who turns up is the worker you booked. If it's someone else, don't let them start, and tell us.
For 3 months after we introduce a worker, we'll tell you straight away if we learn anything suggesting they may not be suitable for your job.
If you learn something like that about a worker, tell us.
15 Right to work
Since 1 October 2026, right-to-work checks cover more than employees. They can cover self-employed people doing work you've agreed to do for your customers. They also cover online matching services, which may include Subber.
You're responsible for any right-to-work check the law requires you to make before a worker starts for you, and for keeping a record of it.
A check that counts in law is one of these:
- the Home Office online check, using the worker's share code
- a check of the worker's original documents, with the worker there in person
- a check by a certified digital identity provider
Our badge shows a check we made for our own duties. It isn't a check made for you, and it may not protect you from a penalty.
Don't let anyone work for you if you know or suspect they aren't allowed to work in the UK. Tell us straight away.
Help us meet our right-to-work duties. For example, answer our questions and show us your check records when we ask.
Help the Home Office if it asks about a worker you booked through Subber.
16 Safety, insurance and damage
You're responsible for health and safety on your jobs. That includes:
- assessing the risks, and telling the worker about them before the job
- the safety of your vehicles, equipment and premises
- planning the job so it can be done safely
Subber doesn't provide insurance of any kind for your jobs. Your own policies apply, and the worker's own cover if they have any.
Keep the insurance your business needs. That may include goods in transit, public liability and employer's liability.
If a worker drives your vehicle, your motor insurance must cover them.
Claims for damage, loss or injury from a job are between you, the worker and your insurers. We don't decide or pay them.
You can still report damage on a booking, so there's a record.
You're responsible for your contracts with your own customers. Don't mislead them about who will do their job.
If you belong to a trade body, such as the British Association of Removers, check that its rules let you book self-employed workers and pay them directly.
Before your first request, hire or crew booking, tick "I've checked our cover" in Your details, under Your insurance. By ticking it, you confirm your own insurance covers the drivers and porters you take on through Subber. That includes employers' liability (which can be needed even for self-employed helpers), motor cover for anyone driving your vehicles (at their age and licence), and goods in transit. Until you tick it, you can't send requests or hire anyone.
We keep the date you ticked it as our record. You can tick it again at any time, which updates the date. We never see or check your policies.
17 Reviews
After a job is completed, you can review the worker and they can review you. You each have 14 days from when it's completed. Each review is 1 to 5 stars and an optional comment.
When a worker reviews you, they can also say whether you paid them on time. Your company page and your job posts show how many workers said yes, for example "Paid on time for 18 of 19 jobs". Only reviews that have gone live count.
Reviews on a job stay hidden until you've both left one, or the 14 days are up. Until then, a review isn't shown, doesn't count towards ratings and can't be reported. If the worker reviews you first, we tell you a review is waiting, but not what it says.
Your reviews show on the worker's profile with your company name. Workers' reviews of you show on your company page with their first name and initial.
You can't edit or delete a review once it's posted.
Reviews must be honest and about the job. Don't:
- post or arrange a fake review
- offer or accept anything in return for a review
- pressure a worker about their review of you
- include personal details, such as phone numbers or addresses
- write anything abusive or discriminatory
If a review of your company is untrue, abusive or shares personal details, you can report it once, saying why.
We remove reviews that break our Review policy (subber.co.uk/legal/review-policy). A removed review stops counting towards ratings. The Review policy explains how we deal with reports.

19 Booking Subber workers outside Subber
This applies for 6 months after a worker's first job with you through Subber.
If you book that worker outside Subber in that time, you'll pay us the fee we'd have charged on each job.
It doesn't apply to a worker you'd already worked with before you found them on Subber.
Workers are always free to work for anyone. We'll never ask a worker to tell us about work they take outside Subber.
20 Our service
We try to keep Subber running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
We may change, add or remove features. We'll tell you about changes that significantly affect you.
Messages and notifications from Subber can be delayed. For anything urgent on the day, phone the worker.
21 Personal data
You and we are each separate controllers of the personal data shared through Subber. Each of us must follow data protection law.
Our Privacy notice (subber.co.uk/legal/privacy) explains how we use personal data, including yours and workers'.
You'll see workers' personal data, such as their name, photo and reviews. Once a job is agreed, you'll also get their mobile number.
Use it only to arrange and carry out jobs with that worker, and to meet your legal duties.
Don't use it for marketing. Only share it with people in your business who need it. Don't keep it longer than you need.
Keep it secure. Tell us promptly if it's misused or lost.
Bookings may include other people's details, such as your customer's address or an on-site contact's number. You must:
- have the right to share them with us and the worker
- make sure those people know their details are shared for the job
- only add what the worker needs
22 Closing or suspending an account
You can close your account at any time in Account settings.
You can't close it while you have agreed jobs still to come. Cancel them under section 11, or wait until they're done.
When you close your account, we withdraw your open requests, close your open job posts and stop your Direct Debit. We tell the workers affected, including your own crew.
Your company page is removed. Past bookings, and reviews you wrote, stay on workers' records as from a "Former company".
Fees for jobs that went ahead, and the crew fee for the month you close in, are still payable after you close your account. We keep your billing details so we can invoice them. Your Direct Debit stops when you close, so pay that last invoice by bank transfer.
We keep some records after an account closes, because the law requires it. Our Privacy notice explains what we keep and for how long.
We may suspend or close your account, or remove a job post, if:
- you break these terms
- you don't pay an invoice on time
- you give us false information
- we need to, to protect workers or others, or to follow the law
We'll tell you why, unless the law stops us. If it isn't urgent, we'll give you a chance to put things right first.
If we suspend or close your account, we'll tell any workers who have agreed jobs with you.
If we suspend your account, we'll email you. You'll be signed out on every device and won't be able to sign in. While it's suspended, workers can't see your company page or job posts. Agreed jobs aren't cancelled automatically. Requests still waiting for an answer are withdrawn, and we tell the workers.
We may hide your company page and job posts while something is put right, such as a misleading company name. We'll tell you why. While they're hidden, workers can't see them, and you can't post jobs, send requests or hire. You can still sign in, and agreed jobs go ahead. Requests still waiting for an answer are withdrawn, and we tell the workers.
If we stop running Subber, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice.
23 Our liability to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law doesn't let us exclude or limit.
Workers aren't our employees or agents. We're not responsible for what they do or fail to do, including damage, lateness, no-shows or poor work.
We're still responsible for our own mistakes, within the limits below.
We're not liable for loss of profit, business, contracts or goodwill, or for any indirect loss.
Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
You'll cover our reasonable losses and costs if someone makes a claim against us because you broke these terms or the law.
24 Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll tell you by email and in the app at least 30 days before a change that affects you.
We may make a change sooner if the law requires it, or to keep Subber safe.
If you don't agree with a change, you can close your account before it takes effect. If you keep using Subber, the new terms apply.
Changes don't affect the fee on bookings already made.
25 Complaints and notices
If you're unhappy with Subber, tell us through Contact Subber or at hello@subber.co.uk.
We'll acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to reply in full within 28 days.
For complaints about how we use personal data, see our Privacy notice.
We'll send formal notices to the email address on your account. Send yours to hello@subber.co.uk.
26 General
These terms, the policies in section 1 and any offer we agree with you in writing are the whole agreement between us about Subber.
Nothing in these terms makes us partners, or makes either of us the other's agent.
You can't transfer your account or these terms without our agreement. We may transfer them to a business that takes over Subber, and we'll tell you if we do.
No one else has any rights under these terms.
If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will deal with any dispute.
